The City Council committee on cooperatives, conducted another cooperative consultation and livelihood training program in Barangay Lapasan, this city.
The cooperative consultation and livelihood training program was done in coordination with the Skills Training Section under the Community Improvement Division and Barangay Council of Lapasan.
It may be recalled that the committee conducted a series of consultations and livelihood trainings in other barangays under city hall’s poverty reduction program.
Councilor Enrico Salcedo, chair of the committee on cooperatives, said the livelihood program aims to increase people’s control of their natural resources and empower the poor through increasing the skills, knowledge, and resources they need.
With the hashtag “kooperatiba para sa katawhan, pamilya matabangan,” the livelihood program will help residents put up their own business when they establish a cooperative, Salcedo added. (sp)
