DAVAO City––The city government is willing to shoulder the miscellaneous fees of students from elementary, high school and college, according to Councilor Edgar Ibuyan.
The good part: any student interested can avail of this assistance, no matter his or her grades nor economic status, according to the councilor.

Speaking to reporters at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Tuesday, Ibuyan said the city has already shouldered the miscellaneous fees of around 14,000 students from different schools in the city.
Elementary students are qualified to receive P500 assistance and high school students can receive P750.
College students, meanwhile, can receive up to P5,000 in financial assistance split into half for each semester per year.

As of school year 2014-2015, the city has shouldered fees totaling P6 million to 14,218 beneficiaries from 281 schools.
Most of the recipients were from 138 elementary schools in the city, with 8,432 beneficiaries, while there were 3,855 students enrolled in 86 high schools.

For college assistance, the city government has helped 1,931 students from 57 tertiary schools.
The most number of assisted elementary school students came from the Magallanes Elementary School, with 654 elementary students assisted.

The Sta. Ana National High School had the most beneficiaries, with 629 students assisted.
According to Ibuyan, the funding is funneled from the city government to his office’s annual development fund. –mindanews
