Iligan City — The dead body discovered at the garbage disposal was the second since the dumpsite was transferred from barangay Santiago to Sitio Banko, Barangay Bonbonon, this city.
According to Tata Villaver, barangay chair of Santiago, the fatality, PJ Catubig was his godson and he is saddened by what happened.
Catubig, 32, hails from Santiago and fell fatally to his death when he was thrown off from the dump truck he was riding along with six other members of the garbage collection team Tuesday at past 7:00 am when the vehicle ran out of control because of the brakes that suddenly failed to function when it reached a descending portion of the road.
Six others were injured and are recovering at the Don Gregorio Lluch Memorial Hospital as of press time.
Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz said that there will be an investigation on the matter.
Three years ago, a certain Ronnie Tanggian also met the same fate.
Mayor Celso Regencia has received flak because of the incident on social media, and mainstream media. Regencia’s administration has alloted P60 million yearly budget for the maintenance of the facility.
