THE City Council committee on tourism chaired by Councilor Jay Pascual during its recent meeting discussed the proposal of the CDO Upland Initiatives Federation, Inc., regarding the possible new tourist destinations in their respective hinterland barangays.
According to the federation president, the group wants to develop the caves, natural spring areas, waterfalls, and other sites particularly in Barangays Tagpangi, Pagalungan, Taglimao, Tuburan, Pigsag-an, Tumpagon, Lumbia, Mambuaya, Bayanga, Tignapoloan, Dansolihon and Balubal.
He said this will not only improve the livelihood of residents of upland barangays but will also add revenues to the city’s tourism industry. He expressed hopes that significant funding be allocated by the city government for the purpose.
Taking cognizance of the request, representatives from the DOT, DENR, Clenro, City Tourism Council and City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office suggested that these sites be assessed first by experts since not all would be considered for development. (sp)
