Peñas, the first to file a CoC for local chief executive of Digos said he knew he will have an opponent for the mayoral seat.

“What is important for me is to show a gesture of sportsmanship towards anybody who will be vying for the mayoral seat so that this will end in a peaceful and credible elections,” Peñas said.

“We are not yet within the campaign period, so we have to prepare everything to accomplish our goal in winning this race,” he said.

Peñas will be serving a third term of office as ma-yor of Digos if he wins the May 2016 poll.

He added that their entire slate for Digos would throw in their full support to Manuel Roxas II for President.

Davao del Sur Governor Claude Bautista was said to be wooing Peñas to become LP’s standard bearer for the gubernatorial post, however the 2-termer ma-yor was reported to decline and vowed to support for-mer Digos City Mayor Ar-senio Latasa for governor.

Bautista has announced he will be leaving Davao del Sur, although he still has two more terms available as governor since he will be running for the same post in the newly created Davao Occidental which is his hometown.

The entire LP slate in Digos City for the city council post are: Eddie Cadilig, Rey Ayo, Serafin Senajon, Michael Latasa, Mellinium Garcia, Milagros Llanos, Francisco Tongcos, Con-cepcion Cadungog, Ricar-do Molina, and Asher Lev Castro.

Castro did not show up during the Holy Mass and failed to submit his CoC to the Comelec office on Wednesday. His party mates refused to comment over Castro’s no show.
