Mayor Joseph Peñas said the funds will be slashed from the city disaster budget for calendar year 2017 which was unanimously approved during the second peace and order council meeting.

Peñas said he will personally hand-over the P300 thousand to Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra in the soonest possible time.

“I think we can arrange the schedule in going to Marawi during our league of cities meeting late this month,” Peñas told reporters.

The mayor said Digos City is just doing its moral obligation to other local governments that suffered so much due to man-made and natural disasters.

“Since we are still a new city we could just give a little of what we have. What is important is the fact that we can show our utmost sympathy to what happened to them,” Peñas said.

He also ask the city treasurer to prepare the financial aid for Surigao City that was devastated by an earthquake this year.”
