IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — The Office of Civil Defense-9 (OCD9) spearheaded the launching of the National Disaster Consciousness Month at Ipil Municipal Covered Court with the support of national government agencies, academe, uniformed personnel and civil society organizations.
“We all share a common goal. Let this year’s theme ‘Pamilya at Pamayanang Handa, Katuwang sa Pag-unlad ng Bansa’ be our guiding principle as we prepare for disaster,” said Mr. Lloyd Pranza, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) officer of Zamboanga Sibugay Province.
He said we should be prepared at all times because disaster comes unexpectedly, and we should start with our own families. “Let us preserve LOVE among each other. Leadership, Objective, Voluntary and Effort so that we will attain progress that our country needs,” Pranza said.
Board Member Eufe-mio Javier Jr. of the province’s second district, who represented Gov. Wilter Yap Palma said everyone should gear up for man-made and natural disaster. “I thank everyone for your attendance. May support and volunteerism be everyone’s goal as we prepare for disaster. We must be concerned about our family and our society,” he said.
“Although Region 9 is not really a disaster-prone area, because of the change of the weather condition, it is just right to brace for typhoon or disaster. Let us all be ready for typhoon or any calamity that will hit our area, so that we will know what to do,” OCD-9 OIC Regional Director and RD RRMC-9 Chairperson Emilia V. Julhajan declared. (PIA-9)
