POLICE yesterday revealed that they now have the fingerprints of burglars who carted away some half a million pesos from the vault in the convent at the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.

Supt. Jerry Tambis, El Salvador police chief, said investigators suspect that the early morning burglary was an “inside job.”

“Hugot gud ang seguridad nga gipatuman sa shrine,” Tambis was quoted as saying in a Bombo Radyo-Cagayan de Oro report.

He said burglars were able to clean out the vault containing P369 thousand, 96 thousand Euros, $1,995, 2,042 Polish Zloty, 101 Australian dollars, and 3,000 Yen over the weekend.

Tambis said the Scene of the Crime Operatives were able to lift fingerprints from the vault owned by the Congregation of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
