ILIGAN City — Heeding the marching orders of Secretary Pauly Jean Rossell-Ubial, the Department of Health in northern Minda-nao and its partner agencies immediately turn its attention to the growing number of home-based evacuees in its month-long composite team response as a result to the Marawi armed conflict.

DOH-10 Regional Director Nimfa Torrizo, who is also the operation center incident commander based here gave directives to the responders to shift its focus to the home-based evacuees in response to Ubial’s order without undermining the needs of the evacuees still living in the congested evacuation centers by assigning roving composite medical teams to home-based evacuees in the different barangays.

The evacuation centers on the other hand, are being manned by standby teams from other responding regions (DOH-12, 11, Caraga, and 9) and or deployed personnel which includes doctors from the ‘Doctors to the Barrios’ program and nurses from the Nurses Deployment Program, all under the Human Resources for Health program of DOH.

Secretary Ubial’s order to shift the focus was prompted by reports of several deaths of  home-based evacuees. (doh x)
