DUE to recent developments and opposition, the Department of Public Works and Highways’ Planning and Designing Division would draft another diversion plan in an effort to complete the drainage project that connects the Agora road drainage to CM Recto avenue drainage.

A DPWH-10 official said this would be their fourth and last option after the Limketkai management continued to disallow construction works of the drainage using the road going inside their commercial complex.

Engr. Sabeniano D. Caliao, Jr. DPWH-10 Planning and Designing Division chief, said they have offered three initial proposed project but all of their proposals were rejected by Albino Limketkai, CEO of Limketkai and Sons Corporation.

Caliao said the fourth and maybe the last option is the drainage that would connect the Agora road drainage to CM Recto Avenue going to Jollibee drive-thru along Limketkai gateway area.

Amo na untang i-construct pero naudlot na naman kay we don’t have consent from the Limketkai. I hope the fourth option wala na kami’y masagasaan,” he said.

He said the third and previous proposal is to construct the drainage passing in front of Luxe Hotel where the engineering and construct design is already complete and about to commence on Monday next week but DPWH-10 failed to secure consent from the Limketkai management.

“It was approved in the previous meetings but recently we were told that Limketkai will not allow us. Then we diverted to another plan. We will cut through the frontage but we still have to ask permission. That is yet the plan kay recently ra man kami gibalibaran sa Ketkai. The plan that was complete and approved that we prepared for several months waste na sab kadto og balik na usab kami sa uno,” he added.

He said after they can complete the fourth proposed drainage engineering plan and design, the DPWH-10 would ask the city council to call for a meeting inviting all concerned parties like Hong See of Puregold Building, Albino Limketkai of Limketkai, School officials of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, and local barangay officials of the areas affected for the presentation.

Naglabad na among ulo ani kay no less than DPWH Secretary Mark Villa rang nagbantay ani nga project. Nagdali kami niini nga project kay naa na kini’y budget. The new design might alter the original project and maybe magbutang na kami og pump,” he added.

Caliao said the initial analysis is that the Limketkai overpass might be affected by the proposed fourth drainage design because the height of the roads would become affected and inappropriate.
