A SECTION of the busy road in Kolambog, Lapasan, has been temporarily closed to vehicular traffic, and it has been causing traffic jams in the area.

The decision was made to allow the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to build a bridge across the creek in Lapasan, similar to its project near the University of Science and Technology in Southern Philippines.

But the problem is that no one is working at the construction site.

Yesterday, the vehicular traffic started to build up on the four-lane road starting at around 3 pm.

Over Magnum Radio, DPWH regional office spokesperson Vinah Maghinay said half of the road needed to be temporarily closed because that road section needed to be elevated.

Maghinay said the project also aims to improve the drainage system in the area.

Maghinay said negotiations because of right-of-way issues raised by some residents were ongoing.

She said the DPWH would call the attention of the contractor, Jejors Construction.
