Gingoog City — Authorities here yesterday filed criminal charges against a driver for violating Forestry Laws of Section 68 before this city’s Prosecutor’s Office.

Michael Gundaya, 56, and a residence of Barangay Daan Lungsod, this city, his helper were arrested by the city police team last week along the national highway in Cabuyuan here after the authoritues found their vehicle was loaded with forest products.

Gundaya will also be facing charges of violating Executive Order 277 and Executive Order 23.

This paper is withholding the name of Gundaya’s helper who is a minor.

The two were arrested during the conduct of a check point said Lami-ing.

Lami-ing added that the following, Saturday, the minor was released to the parents while Gundaya is still behind bars in Gingoog Police mini cell.

Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Conrado Mahinay Jr of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources based in Gingoog said the vehicle was loaded with 69 pieaces of molave lumber and  scaled  at 529.92 boardfeet

Mahinay added the pieces lumber were illegally transported from the hinterland village of Tagpako, this city.

Lami-ing, for his part, said the impounded vehicle and the seized forest products were immediatly turned over to the DENR office, here.
