WITH its long running line of successful drug buy-busts, arrests, and neutralized drug criminals, the Philippine National Police deemed it fit to similarly check and cleanse its force from likely drug mischiefs in uniform. Such was the recent standing directive of Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. Thus, it was in compliance with such an instruction that the Police Regional Office-10 conducted random drug tests involving all its personnel.

The result was a resounding “negative” – across the board! It technically means that none of our police officers in this part of the country are in the habit of sniffing prohibited chemicals and solvents.

Such a feat is, indeed, something worth mentioning. Hence, below is the presser entitled “PRO-10 Personnel Yielded Negative Results During Drug Tests” drafted by Supt. Lemuel B. Gonda, chief, public information office/spokesperson and deputy chief, Regional Police Strategy Management Unit of Police Regional Office-10:

“PCSupt. Timoteo G. Pacleb, Regional Director, conducted unannounced drug testing to Police Regional Office 10 personnel – that includes the Command Group, Directorial staff, Special Staff, Chief of National Administrative Support Units and National Operation Support Units and Non-uniformed Personnel; also the Police Stations of Cagayan de Oro Police Office, Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office and Bukidnon Police Provincial Office – as part of the PNP internal cleansing program, particularly aimed at ferreting out drug-using policemen last September 18 to 21, 2017.

“A total of 480 personnel submitted their urine specimen; all yielded with negative results after the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 10 headed by PSSupt. Leocy Mag-abo, Chief RCLO; finished their examination on morning of September 22, 2017.

“This is in compliance with the directive of PDG Ronald dela Rosa, CPNP to cleanse the rank from Officers down to the lowest rank as part of the PNP internal cleansing strategy of the organization.  It is to restore and uphold the integrity of the organization and the public’s trust with the conduct of mandatory drug tests among all personnel and intensified efforts to eradicate illegal drugs, as majority of heinous crime in the country are drugelated.  Furthermore, the PNP will not tolerate any member of the organization who violates the law and gets involved in illegal drugs.

“PCSupt. Pacleb wants Police Officers to have unsullied service reputation, unblemished record, and a character beyond suspicion, to perform their mandated task to get rid of illegal drugs, criminality and corruption.

“PRO-10 will continue to conduct random testing at PRO 10 for a drug-free Police Regional Office.”

Kudos to our drug-free police force in Region 10.
