The warehouse is intended for nationwide operations and set to respond to a bigger scale of disaster operations.

At the groundbreaking rites last year, DSWD Under-secretary Mateo G. Montano emphasized that the warehouse will serve not only the Mindanao area but all the other regions in the country requiring emergency assistance.

If at some point, the operations at the national warehouse is hampered due to flooding or earthquake or any other disaster, this warehouse can then supply the needs of the affected populace at NCR, he pointed out.

In the same manner that the warehouses in the Visayas and Luzon can also augment the needs of Mindanao regions when necessary, the Undersecre-tary added.

DSWD will also be constructing a warehouse in Cebu and Clark Air Base.

The Davao construction was implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways-Davao City District Engineering Office (DPWH-DCDEO). (PNA
