OVER 41 local producers and manufacturers met with 21 buyers including hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, convenient stores, consolidators and distributors gather together in one venue to negotiate trade earlier last week at Grand Caprice Restaurant, Cagayan de Oro City.
The Department of Trade and Industry Misamis Oriental (DTI-MOR) provincial office organized the activity to promote local products and address the supply needs of hotels and restaurants.
The agency hoped that the activity will result in many booked orders and increase in sales especially for micro enterprises.
This will provide an opportunity for small enterprises to promote their products and negotiate directly to buyers while our hotels and restaurant will also have a chance to patronize local products.
A lot of new and exciting products were showcased, such as yogurt, gouda cheeses, duck meat, balut, goat’s milk and cheese, sambong, coconut sugar and other health and wellness products.
Most of the hotels and restaurants were looking for fresh fruits, vegetables, processed meat and beverages. On the other hand, consolidators, supermarkets and convenience store are interested in new processed food products.
This is the 2nd Speed Matching that was conducted in CDO, the first was done in 2013 wherein a lot of local producers were able to penetrate groceries and convenient stores. pia
