Two-storey “Negosyo Center”  worth some P10 million will soon rise at the provincial capitol grounds after the provincial government of Misamis Oriental in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) led the ground breaking and capsule-laying ceremonies on Monday to spur economic activities in the province.

The Provincial Tourism Department would also be installed in the same two-storey building. It would also feature a coffee shop and Pasalubong Center where various products of the province would be displayed.

According to Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano, an estimated P10 million fund is allocated for the project from the 20 percent development fund and general fund of the capitol while the P3 milion comes from the cash prize earned from the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award. DTI also shelled out P500,000 for the building.

This is in line with the Go Negosyo Act or the Republic Act No. 10644 mandating the establishment of business centers in accessible locations in the cities and municipalities to be able to help entrepreneurs or would-be businessmen grow their businesses.

Earlier, Emano said the provincial government already received some equipment intended for the said project from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The equipment include air conditioners and laptop computers, among others.

The two-storey Negosyo or Pasalubong Center will be built in front of the tennis court beside the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) regional office. (EOR/PIA)
