OROQUIETA City, Misamis Occidental, – The Department of Trade and Industry, here (DTI Mis Occ) has warned the public against companies offering investments but do not give a receipt or proof of payment.

These receipts are very much needed to support complaints against companies/ business groups offering investment products, if any, Maritess B. Alcampado, Head, Consumers’ Welfare Division (CWD) of DTI MisOcc said.

Meanwhile, she said consumers should keep all proofs and records of transactions, such as, receipts, contracts, agreements or certificates of investments and other documents of similar nature.

Alcampado advised the consumers never to divulge, if asked to give their personal information, such as, bank account, credit card and personal information numbers (PIN) and passwords.

For more information and complaints regarding pyramid and other scams, the consumers may go to the nearest DTI or the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) office, Alcampado added. pia
