On Saturday, Juanuary 12, 2019 Norminring Development Corporation (NDC) opened the Ducati showroom and service center in Masterson Avenue, Xavier Estates, Cagayan de Oro City.

“Back in April 2011, when we first opened Ducati in Davao City, we were the first premium bike dealer in Mindanao at that time. We never expected that the brand and the community of big bike rider would grow this fast and this big to where it is right now. Last year, the industry expanded so fast that we opted to push to have the Ducati dealership in Cagayan de Oro City,” said Jondi Lacson, chief executive officer (CEO) of Norminring Development Corporation (NDC).

According to Lacson, while they also carry other motorcycle brands such as the Austrian KTM, Royal Enfield, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Vespa motorcycles, the demand for the Ducati has significantly increased over the past few years.

Toti Alberto, president and CEO of Access-Plus Ducati Philippines expressed his optimism in the growth of the market in Mindanao.

“Right now the big motorbike industry here in Mindanao has been growing fast, with around 20 to 30 Ducati motorbikes here in Northern Mindanao, opening the store here will help support the loyal Ducati base as well as open up to motorcycle enthusiasts who wants to upgrade their motorcycles into the top European brand.”

Alberto who started in Motocross and took several championships along the way before his Superbike career see the potential of the Mindanao for big bike market.

“We did good in 2018, selling over 500 high end motorcycles nationwide, this is not a big number when it comes to smaller motorcycle dealerships but for a high end market with our price range, this is already a very considerable number and we see a huge potential for the rest of Mindanao for this market,” said Alberto.

He added that, “from the current number of Ducati riders here in Mindanao, and with all the indication, for sure it will grow with more riders behind the wheels of our big bikes and hopefully get more people into the Ducati family here in Northern Mindanao.”
