THE chair of the city council’s education committee on Tuesday said she would check if the legislative panel could start an inquiry into the unfinished construction of a building in the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines campus.

Councilor Suzette Daba said she was still unsure if the education committee has the jurisdiction or if it was in the position to ask questions in regard to the P200-million project that was stopped by the USTP in early 2017.

USTP on Wednesday confirmed that the university terminated its contract with the builder Wing An Construction and Development Corp. due to contractor’s alleged violations of the agreement.

“Tan-awon nato, mangonsulta kita niana, na-a ba kana sa atong jurisdiction ang pagtuki anang sa USTP nga building,” Daba said. (nitz arancon)
