Authorities identified the fatality as Endamecio Mapano, married, of Purok 1B of Barangay Pugaan.

Report from Police Station 1 in Tambo, this city, under Senior Insp. Felix Rabago, Jr, showed that the incident happened at around 8:00 pm Tuesday.

The victim, it was learned, heard an unusual barking of dogs near his house and went to open the door of his house to check what it was, only to be met by a volley of gunfire hitting him on the back, all over his torso which sent him sprawling on the floor. He died instantly.

Witnesses said the farmer could have been a subject of envy as he owned large tracts of land and also raised many livestock in his farm. It was learned too that he lived away from the rest of residents of the barangay.
