ON Saturday, there was this motorcade by a certain fraternity I caught up with at Gaston Park. There’s nothing wrong to be with a fraternity but there was something about how its members behaved. They were yelling, revving up their motorcycles as if they own the world. And to top it all, they weren’t using helmets.

While authorities apprehend riders without helmets, they all got away with it. It makes me wonder, is being a member of this fraternity a license to violate the law? Or was it a show of force?

The feeling must be good to be privileged. But we should also think of the people around us because, like the old saying, “no man is an island.” You want to make noise, think of the people who may be disturbed, and inconvenienced unnecessarily.

All sorts of activities lined up for the city fiesta would soon commence. How long would it be––week long? I can’t imagine the traffic woes that may go with it. The influx of people from neighboring towns and cities could make our traffic chaotic. Are we prepared for it? Is the RTA prepared for it? How do you deal with the situation?

I thought of going somewhere, far from the madding crowd. Ah… that sounds like a movie, an old movie I just watched a week ago. I just loved it.

Nobody wants to get caught in a traffic jam. Besides, it costs a lot in terms of fuel. Yes, take care of your heart. Be calm and avoid getting mad. My wife always reminds me this.

The good old days and the old traditional way of celebrating fiesta make me melancholic.

How serious is our drug problem in the city? A friend asked me if I know anybody from this bank. He simply wants to report that the driver of their armored car was seen using drugs while at a parking area.

Armored cars are usually for hire, not necessarily owned by banks. As such, the owners of these vehicles should conduct random drug tests on their drivers.

I would also like to challenge LTO on the accuracy of drug tests as one of the requirements prior to getting a driving license. This is in view of a report that some truck drivers who travel long hours use drugs to keep them alert. Are some drivers of bus companies also into this, too? I am just asking.

For those who helped convince the Rodriguez family to support Oca Moreno for mayor against Dongkoy Emano, they may now find it awkward to ask the Rodriguezes not to support Moreno’s reelection bid. Knowing that Cagayan de Oro is such a small city that makes it impossible for the Rodriguezes not to know the sentiments of the people against Moreno, it is now up to the family to use their own judgment.

Bebot Rodriguez running in tandem with Moreno may look formidable but there is always a downside to this.  Cross the bridge when we get there, so to speak.

There are dire scenarios being floated that would lead to big trouble in the capital. The question is, what would we do as Mindanaoans if that happens?

So far, people hope for cooperation and co-existence among Christians, Muslims and the Lumad. In short, one people, one Mindanao.

January of 2016 may be crucial!
