Iligan City — Fire victims of the Sunday conflagration in Purok 2 Barangay Tambacan here are now temporarily housed in the barangay hall.

At least 30 houses were razed to the ground on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The city’s Social Welfare and Development Office has already distributed relief goods to the fire victims.

City Fire Marshal Butch Paulite said the fire started in the residence of one Hedjarah Talib which was occupied by one Saripa Mamao.

Paulite said the started at about 12:48 noon and declared under control by 1:45 pm.

He added they declared fire out at 2:15 pm.

He said at least 14 fire trucks responded to the fire that razed 32 houses.

Paulites estimated the damage at P500 thousand.

Firemen suspected that the fire started with the few school-aged children playing with matches beside Talib’s house which was made of light materials.
