Some 2,000 recipients of the one-day activity particularly residents in Barangay 17, in Cagayan de Oro City have benefitted from various services through a community outreach program that were held Saturday by the Army’s 4th Field Artillery Battalion (4FAB) supported by different government and non-governmental organizations to include the Cagayan de Oro Eagles Club.

‘Arrozcaldo’ and fresh milk bars from the club and Northern Mindanao Federation Dairy Cooperatives Inc. for the feeding program were even served to the participants.

The Cagayan de Oro Eagles Club of the Fraternal Order of Eagles is a non-profit, noneligious and non-political organization which aspires to assist less fortunate individuals.

It usually conducting feeding and outreach programs in different places not only in the city but in other nearby provinces in the region.

The activities that involved were medical civic action program (MEDCAP), feeding, free haircut service and free reading glasses.

The community services were made possible with the help of the Soriano Philippines Community Health Foundation; TOG-10, PAF; 4th LACT (S), MID, PA; 4th Signal Battalion, ASR (P), PA; 4ID’s 1364th Dental Team; MOPA; physicians from private and government hospitals; Barangay 17 Health Office Brgy; and Barangay 17 Officials led by Brgy councilor Rizza Mae H Rañoa.

The 4FAB also provided transportation and manpower assistance to include barbers for free haircut services.

Free reading glasses to beneficiaries were also part of their mission in helping those in needs.

Meanwhile, medical and dental team from 4ID and TOG-10, Philippine Air Force offered free medical consultations to the patients who were lined up for check-up, while Barangay 17 health workers helped in the registration of the beneficiaries.

Of the 1,782 total recipients, 336 beneficiaries were availed medical consultation,109 (tooth extraction), 46 for free haircut, 170 beneficiaries who availed reading glasses, 170 who availed vitamins, 100 for eye care surgery and screening, 351 availed medicines while 300 individuals who enjoyed the nutritious “arroz caldo” and 200 fresh milk bars.

Recipients said the event is a big help for them who cannot afford to avail of medical services as they even revealed that the activities at their place were seldom to happen.

In return, sincerest thanks were conveyed to the organizers for the services they provided to them.
