COUNCILOR Leon D. Gan has recently reported about the illegal distribution of fuel in the city.
During the 93rd regular session of the 18th City Council presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy, Gan said there are businesses that are now engaging in the distribution and refill of fuel which is illegal and prejudicial to the city government. These businesses did not secure the required permit, failed to pay the appropriate taxes, and failed to register with the Department of Energy, he cited.
The councilor stressed that this is also prejudicial to the existing fuel dealers who complied with the necessary documents and legal requirements while other businesses are secretly and illegally distributing fuel.
Gan said the city council should investigate the matter as it also concerns safety. (cli)
