SOME P144 million worth of completed projects highlighted the annual infrastructure report of Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano during his annual “Taho Sa Katawhan”  at the capitol grounds yesterday.

Also in his report is the acquisition of some 27 road construction equipment funded under a loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

“Infrastructure programs will be our main focus next year. These new pieces of equipment will play a significant role,” Emano said.

He reported that the capitol spent P103 million to construct 20.7 kilometers. He said the funds all came from the general funds of the capitol.

These roads are the  Awang-Tingalan provincial road in Opol town that costs some P71 million, Laguindingan-Lourdes-Sungay provincial road worth P14.7 million, Sugbongcogon-Kidampas provincial road worth P9.6 million, Lagonglos-Umagos provincial road worth P3.9 million, and the Stan Ana-Malitbog provincial road worth P3.5 million.

Emano said two of the six soon-to-be-completed road projects are the  Sta. Ana-Sta. Cruz-Malitbog  provincial road in Tagoloan town which is already 86.5 percent completed at the cost of P3.5 million, and the Gimangpang-Aluna provincial road of Initao town which is already 75 percent completed at the cost of P9.9 million.

Emano said two innovations are mainly responsible for the “significant performance” of the engineering office in the pursuit of infrastructure development.

“One is the creation of the Barangay Infrastructure  Projects Office, and the other is the barangay empowerment that we extended to the barangay officials giving them authority to identify, process and manage priority projects in their areas,” Emano said.

Meanwhile, Emano also revealed that the capitol acquired 27 new equipment. These include two bulldozers, 10 dump-trucks; six graders, motor graders, compactors and backhoe,  and a boom truck, a prime mover, and a lower bed trailer. (pio)
