Greening program launched in Sulku

SULTAN KUDARAT– The National Greening Program of the government was formally launched here in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat province.

Several government officials, peoples’organization and the DENR officials joined hands last May 27 to promote the greening program of the government.

It was learned that 1^st District Congressman Raden Sakaluran initiated the implementation of the program and this was supported by Local LGU officials like Columbio Mayor Datu Amirh Musali and Vice Mayor Edwin Bermudez and the different P.O’s in the area.

DENR 12 personnel also supported the activity with Penro Renato Domingo and Cenro-Tacurong City Jerry Dalauta personally appear in the venue together with their respective staff that provided the rubber trees to be planted and in designating areas that will be planted of trees.

Around 850 hectares of land in this town and the hinterland areas adjacent to the province of South Cotabato and Davao del Sur

and their staff through a simple program and actual planting of rubber trees in designated areas that comprised at least 850 hectares rough vast hinterlands adjacent to the Provinces of South Cotabato and Davao del Sur areas were visited and initially planted planted with trees in the morning of May 27.

Congressman Sakaluran expressed thanks to President Benigno Simeon Aquino and to DENR Secretary Ramon Paje for the support of the program in his district.

Sakaluran said that at present a 10 hectares nursery with rubber species were being readied already and soon these will be planted and will form part as livelihood of the people in the area.

He also revealed that in the past the government has the same program adding planted trees as they grow older people resorted into cutting them for some other purpose. But in today’s program, Sakaluran claimed that he will make sure that trees will grow older so that this will be used as livelihood for all and not only for the few.

Cenro Jerry Dalauta even lauded the active participation of Sakaluran saying that as embodied in the program beneficiaries were being paid of their effort from the program itself while nourishing the planted rubbers for their soon livelihood in five (5) years.

Mayor Musali said that this town and its constituents were blessed having gained the support of its congressman and Sultan Kudarat Governor Datu Suharto Mangudadatu of the said project.

Sakaluran in his speech during the program said that in due time a p240 million road project will be implemented that will connect the towns of Colombio and Lutayan comes 2016
