Iligan City — “There are still civilians trapped inside some buildings in Marawi City,” Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera, Army’s 1st Infantry Division spokesperson said on a statement on Sunday.

He advised those who are still inside these buildings and other structures to just stay put until rescue comes. He said they are going inside buildings and hope to rescue them to safety as soon as possible.

Herrera also enjoined them to hoist white flags in these buildings where they are but to be careful to stay low when hoisting the flag since there are still snipers scattered all over the city.

He said he knows Iliganons who are trapped inside Marawi City are hungry and advise them to stay put until help comes. He also advised them hydrate.

“It’s not easy, he said but they have to bear it a little longer.”

Herrera estimates that there might still be about 20 to 30 Maute snipers scattered across the city.
