About 206 poor patients coming from the eastern part of Misamis Oriental including from Tagoloan, Villanueva, and Claveria of the second district have availed of the free surgical services conducted in the two provincial hospitals in Gingoog and Balingasag towns.

Darene Echavez administrative officer of Balingasag Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital said the free surgical operations were conducted through the Department of Health Surgical Caravan.

The free sugical operations were conducted in a five-day caravan from Nov. 13 to 17, Echavez added.

Echavez said the activity was made possible also with the cooperation of the  Provincial Capitol.

Some 146 poor patients availed of free surgical operation at the Balingasag provincial hospital while 60 poor patients avail of the caravan in in Gingoog provincial hospital.

Gingoog City Mayor Marie Guingona expressed her gratitude to the 10 doctors coming from Tondo Medical Center  who handled the free surgical operation in Gingoog Provincial Hospital according to Dr. Grace Jadol City Health Officer

Jadol said the doctors perfomed the surgical major operations of Cataract surgery  Herniorrhapy, Hydrocelectomy, Ob-gyne cases, Cholecystectomy, Hemorrhoidectomy, and Mastectomy.

According to Dr. Adriano Subaan, DOH 10 Regional Director, the 206 individuals who were treated were part of about 921 poor patients in Misamis Oriental of 4,589 region wide who needed surgical operations.
