Chief Insp. Harvey Abellanosa identified the suspect as Ambog Sarip of Barangay 35, this city.

Police said Sarip hails from Salvador, Lanao del Norte.

Authorities said Sarip allegedly shot his neighbor 34-year old Faizal Noron to the chest that resulted in his death.

Noron was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) where he was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician.

Quoting witnesses, police said the victim was watching over his ware when Sarip came and the two engaged in an argument near the corner of Osmeña and Yacapin streets.

Subsequently, police said, Sarip allegedly took out a gun and without a word shot the victim at close range.

“Si Faizal (Noron) natumba diha-diha sa motor sa suspek. Mao tong naglisud na ang suspek  pagkuha sa iyang motor iya nalang gibiyaan. Milakaw ang suspek padulong sa daghang tawo,” a bystander said.

Authorities went to Sarip’s house but failed to arrest the suspect.

Abellanosa said police found a sling bag containing suspected shabu, illegal drug paraphernalia, and a caliber .38 revolver with two bullets inside the house.

Inside, police also seized motorcycle license plate KI-4837 registered under the name of one Roberto Calog of Lanao del Norte. Police said it was likely removed from the abandoned motorcycle.

Investigators said they were looking into several possible motives, including personal grudges and rido.
