Herbie Gomez .

THE reason why the “Red October” tale has backfired and exploded right in the faces of Der Fuhrer-inspired President Duterte, his spokesman Harry “Goebbels” Roque, and the overzealous members of the Philippine Nazi Party is because of their failure to show convincing evidence that there is such a plot or that anyone has actually gone to the extent of planning what every right-thinking Filipino has been toying with in his imagination ever since the s#!t of Davao City hit the national fan.

This is for all the millions of Filipinos who, by now, are convinced that we’re all legally stuck with this Freddy Krueger-like character until 2022: Admit it, these are times when you wish nature would just take its course and end this national nightmare. That, of course, is the easiest way out of the legal and constitutional dilemma confronting the millions of Filipinos unhappy because of the 2016 anomaly in our democratic system. We’ll just have to accept the fact that democracy is imperfect and the Duterte administration is a result of a democracy glitch.

So, while it is not unthinkable for the millions of decent and hurting citizens of this country to dream about drastic leadership change, it cannot be said that there is an actual plot to oust the Der Fuhrer fan by way of extralegal means or outside the framework of the Constitution. That problematic scenario is only in the imagination of millions of democracy-loving Filipinos who are very unhappy because this country is backsliding and the Der Fuhrer of the Philippines is obviously leading us nowhere.

There is no such thing as a thought crime. If the millions of unhappy Filipinos dream about administration change, they cannot be charged with actually plotting the ouster of anyone because they are only toying with that idea in their imagination. I am certain that the previous administrations after Joseph Estrada’s were also booted out pronto, but only in people’s dreams. That’s just their imagination at work.

Normally, people with good breeding don’t spat on the faces of the detestable even when the urge is so strong. But they have thought about that, haven’t they? I know people who imagined doing that to enemies of reason but they haven’t because of decency — they know that spitting on another human being’s face does not conform to standards of propriety and morality. It’s simply rude, and decent people know based on experience that such degree of disrespect and impoliteness would have consequences. They can think about it but unless they act on it, that will just be their naughty imagination working. Again, there is no such thing as a thought crime.

Malacañang people are aware that the President has many ill-wishers which is why  Harry “Goebbels” Roque has repeatedly told them to just “dream on.” Roque is actually correct because millions upon millions of unhappy Filipinos, angry about the things they are seeing and hearing, have nothing but the dream of a better government that would make decisions based on data and objective facts rather than on paranoia and the control freak’s burning desire to punish and silence his critics.

The people can dream about an efficient government that would work to address the nation’s pressing problems. They can even dream about nature taking its natural course before 2022 or even drastic change by way of ouster which, I have to point out, is not the same as an actual ouster plot. Some dreams cannot be put into action especially for people who want to do things based on the Constitution.

Dreams are free and people should remain free to dream whatever it is they want to dream about. As for me, I dream of a decent, morally upright and reasonable government in 2022, and my wish is long life for President Freddy Krueger so that he could be made accountable for all the Holocaust-inspired killings, not to mention, the thievery in the primary implementer of “Build, build, build,” the Department of Public Works and Highways, that topped the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission’s list of government agencies hounded by the most number of corruption reports.

The Pacc list includes government-owned and -controlled corporations, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Finance, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Transportation, Department of Agriculture, and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples. The list only means one thing: corruption is alive, well and kicking in the Duterte administration.

We’re already in the 4th quarter of 2018. Note that Mr. Duterte has been president since 2016 and so I ask: Who will answer for all the corruption taking place in government now? Pastilan.
