City administrator lawyer Dexter Ray Sumaoy said notices to the owners of the structures, which number around 20, were already given notices in 2014.

Another notice was also given in January, this year.

The demolition team consisting mostly of personnel from the city’s Economic Enterprise  Development and Management Office, police officers, and some personnel from city hall as well as Sumaoy anticipated resistance from the owners of the structures as the latter had manifested earlier that the city was depriving them of their income from such move.

However, no untoward incident happened.

The structures, to note, are just a few meters away from the sea and its location is referred to as “tabing-dagat.”
