Iligan City — The city has a new police director in the person of Senior Supt. Manuel Alvarez.

In a formal turnover of command last Friday afternoon at Tipanoy, here, Alvarez said he hopes to carry on the good performance of the police in the city under Senior Supt. Leony Roy Ga as far as maintaining peace and order is concerned and he hopes the full cooperation of the police as well as the people that they had given to Ga.

The order for the change of command came from the regional level.

For his part, Ga said he hopes the cooperation of the police, city officials and the people would be accorded to Alvarez the way they had accorded to him when he was still its police director.

Ga also said he is open to running for some political position.
