SITTING as a Committee of the Whole, the City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy approved in principle the proposed budget of City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) for 2019.

This, during the marathon budget deliberation presided over by Councilor Edna Dahino, the body discussed the proposed budget of the CSWD in the total amount of P229,020,727.

This includes the budgets intended for salaries and wages of employees (P35.1 million), maintenance such as repairs for transportation equipment, machinery and equipment and other operating expenses (P2.1 million).

Legislators also approved CSWD’s special programs, projects and services for children, which include the Early Childhood Care and Development program (P10.8 million), Educational Assistance Program (P2 million), Support to City Council for the Protection of Children (P2.5 million), Children in Especially Difficult Circumstances (CEDC) (P7.3 million) and Basic Care and Management of Children with Disabilities (CWDs) (P200,000).

The proposed budget also covers programs, projects and services for youth in the amount of P16.5 million, for Women/Families amounting to P16 million, for Persons with Disability in the amount of P12.7 million, among others. (sp)
