Chief Insp. Jose Teody Condesa, CIDG provincial officer identified the victim as Romulo Trobe, 54, a resident of a nearby town of Digos City.

“As of this moment, we could not yet determine how many wounds he have since the doctors are still trying their best to save his life from danger,” Condesa said.

He admitted Trobe has been his asset for a long time. Condesa said the motive could be in line with his being a law enforcement asset or personal in nature.

“We are still conducting our own investigation as to the motive and the identities of those who tried to kill him. The CIDG will provide updates about the incident once we have additional information about the shooting incident,” Condesa said.

Reports said Trobe was at the driver’s side of his black Kia sedan parked at the shoulder of Aplaya provincial road in Christian Village when the attack occurred. At least three slugs shattered the car’s windshield and its side glass also hitting the victim in the body.

Trobe’s wife whose name is withheld for security reasons told the police she was buying groceries in one of the malls in Digos about less than two kilometers from where her husband was shot.
