BUTUAN City — The Surigao del Sur Irrigation Management Office confirmed yesterday that tropical depression Auring damaged a total of P60 million of government irrigation facilities in the province and 5,177 hectares of ricefields.

Based on the official report by NIA-Surigao del Sur provincial office the tropical depression also damaged the Sta. Felomina Dam in Tandag City, the provincial capital  Hubo Dam in San Agustin town, on-going irrigation projects in the town of San Miguel, perceived rice granary of the province and some communal irrigation systems and national irrigation system in the province.

According to the same NIA report, a total of 5,177 hectares of ricefields, all irrigated, in the province estimated to be worth by the millions of pesos in the towns of were destroyed in the cities of Tandag and Bislig and in the municipalities of Madrid, Cantilan, Tago, San Miguel, San Agustin, Lanuza, Marihatag, Cagwait, Lianga, Barobo, Hinatuan, and Lingig.
