JEALOUSY prompted a 25-year old waiter to take his own life inside his room in District 1, Consolacion over the weekend.
Authorities identified the suicide as Rey Jori Olaivar a.k.a. Jeboy who worked for an eatery at the Cogon area.
Olaivar was already dead when he was found by his younger brother inside his room on Saturday. Investigators said Olaivar tied a nylon cord around his neck and strangled himself with it.
The suicide’s father Richard said his son was kneeling down when he was found with a cord around his neck.
He said a reason why the his son killed himself was because he of jealousy.
His partner Joyce Anne Barena left their house and went to Gingoog City a week ago, it was learned. She brought with her their two children, a three-year old and a one-year old.
“Nakaseguro ko nga gawas sa selos gimingaw tog ayo akong anak sa duha nila ka anak nga gidala ni Joyce sa Gingoog,” the elder Olaivar said.
He said his son was drunk when he last saw him alive in their house.
Michael, Rey Jori’s younger brother, said the suicide and his partner had always quarreled.
“They accused each other of infidelity. It was the reason why Joyce left the house with the two kids,” said Michael.
