Some 184 youth graduated from the JobStart Philippines Program hosted by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manolo Fortich under its maiden or wave 1 implementation.

Suyao said he is confident that the graduates are ready for the world of work after the training.

He also encouraged them not to lose sight of what they aim for and to work for it. “There will be stiff competition when you apply for jobs; however, you already have an edge because you have the skills and experience that the employers are looking for,” he said.

Lai-la Besingan, one of the job starters who completed the full cycle training was hired as a cashier of Alomah’s Place, a partner employer of DOLE.

“JobStart has changed my life. It taught me to be confident and to face a lot of people. The program came at the right time in my life when I was about to lose hope of finding a job, but because of JobStart I am able to start a new life and the future has become brighter, not just for me, but also for my family,” Besingan siad.

John Michael Morales, another job starter who also completed the full cycle training and hired by Dahilayan Forest Park as a service crew, shared the same sentiment.

JobStart made a big impact in my life. It made me become a better worker and a better person. I can now help my family financially,” he said.

Manolo Fortich Municipal Mayor Clive D. Quiño was elated by the positive results of the program. He said generating employment has been one of the priorities of his leadership.

He also lauded the positive response of LGU–Manolo Fortich Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Roger O. Molina for accepting the challenge and for reaching all the employment facilitation targets.

JobStart Philippines is a program for young Filipinos that seek to integrate full-cycle employment facilitation service in their school-to-work transition to enhance their employability.  (PIA10)
