WHY? Is 2019 going to be an election year?

With this, former Misamis Oriental vice governor Julio Uy laughed off talk about an Emano-Unabia tandem taking shape ahead of next year’s scheduled mid-term elections, pointing out that it was premature for politicians to discuss their political plans for 2019.

Uy said it was “too early” to comment on the possible alliance of Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano and 1st District Rep. Peter Unabia because of political uncertainties confronting the nation as a result of the proposed shift to a federal form of government and calls for a revolutionary government.

These, he said, could mean a no-elections scenario for next year.

Uy was unsuccessful in his bid to win the gubernatorial elections in 2016 but the former Villanueva mayor and vice governor is the head of a political family which is a force to reckon with in the province — his wife Juliette is the representative of Misamis Oriental’s 2nd District while his daughter is the mayor of his voteich hometown.

Uy said he would rather help his wife and daughter in their development work for the province.

“Layo pa ang election ug dili pa na angay hisgutan,” he said.

Besides, Uy said, there has been too much misinformation and disinformation by political groups in the province lately.

He said, “Dili naman ta motoo ana kay daghan man ila gipagawas nga mga istorya istorya si Unabia modagan mayor sa Gingoog… si Unabia modagan mayor sa Balingoan ug karon, modagan bise gobernador.”
