CITY Mayor Oscar Moreno has filed for a motion to defer his arraignment before the Sandiganbayan, the legal counsel who filed for him bared.

In an interview, lawyer Dale Bryan Mordeno also asked the Anti-Graft Court to defer the arraignment of the criminal cases filed against Moreno before the Office of the Ombudsman.

Mordeno said the motion to defer the arraignment comes in tandem with the motion for consolidation he file before the Anti-Graft Court.

“So wala pa man ma-consolidate sa Sandigabayan ang 24 ka mga kaso ni Mayor Moreno, ma-o tong nag-file ko’g motion to defer the arraignment, kay amo sa nga ipa-consolidate. Og kon ma-consolidate na, ayha pa dayon namo ipa-arraign aron dili ta mag-sige’g balik-balik ang arraignment,” explained Mordeno.

Mordeno said he filed the motions about two weeks ago.

He said this is the reason why not one of the seven division of the Sandiganbayan arraigned the mayor for the 24 charges of graft and corruption filed against him.

Isa man ka issue ani nga mga kaso, kadto ra mang rental sa heavy equipment sa Kapitolyo. Wala may laing issue, pareho ra man,” he said.

It can be recalled that the Office of the Ombudsman filed 24 graft and corruption cases against Moreno and several others in connection with the rental of a heavy equipment without public hearing when he served as governor of Misamis Oriental.
