OKAY! I have had enough of these selfighteous garbage men who can’t even do their job properly.

I have seen how the same garbage truck passes through our neighborhood thrice without collecting trash from our street.

If the man in charge is reading this, I have only one thing to say to you. Your men are a bunch of lazy workers. They pass through our street every single day and never ever pick up the garbage.

Because of the incompetence of your men, we have to carry our own garbage to a very far away garbage container. May I remind officials that your constituents are paying taxes and it is your responsibility to accomplish your jobs, and that you were elected into office by the people who believed in you. The people pay for garbage collection services.

The last time I checked, the company IPM is religiously paid by the city government to collect the trash but they do not do this in certain areas!

I was laughing the other day as I and neighbors in Macasandig were talking about how our garbage have been “ignored” for weeks. Bukid na amo basura.

Then the thought suddenly hit me. How do they repay people who actually pay their taxes? Simple, they don’t collect garbage.

Quite a number of us have already been following that mandate set upon our barangays to follow and  these simple procedures have always been followed by my family. I don’t know about others but I could vouch that people in my street have followed Macasandig’s mandates at the best of our capabilities. However, the only problem is that nobody is there to pick up the massive garbage piling up.

One thing that I have observed is that the people who built the biggest public school in this city aren’t doing their job. For three months, I have been observing that the garbage collectors are not properly doing their job. They don’t even bother stopping to pick up garbages and sometimes, they even refuse.

Do you know why? It’s probably because the same company has been busy with other projects like the new Cagayan de Oro National High School.

The sad part about it is that most of us have been following the rules. They told us to segregate our wastes. However, where are the people who are supposed to collect the segregated trash? They are nowhere to be found.

With all the segregation signs that the barangays have been posting all over the city, it is quite sad to note that even when people are trying to segregate and doing their share, the local government itself is doing nothing to make a positive impact.

It’s quite sad really. The government itself wants to implement RA 9003, otherwise known as the Solid Waste Management Act. Yet it seems it’s impossible to implement. Why? Because the workers tasked to collect are not functioning properly.

Maayo kaayo mangayog kwarta pag abot sa cedula ug barangay clearance tapos ang basura ga tambay lang. Marag wala gi bayaran ug inadlaw sa ilang mga trabaho.

As a result, the garbage in my neighborhood start clogging waterways.

It’s pointless because the officials of barangays and the local government, the people who are supposed to enforce the law, and those tasked to collect the garbage are the ones screwing things up.
