A MAN, believed to be suffering from depression, hanged himself inside his rented house in Barangay Kauswagan, this city, on Thursday.
Senior Insp. Demver Vergara, Police Station 4 chief, identified the victim as 54-year old Prodencio Palarca of Zone 6, Capisnon, Kauswagan.
Vergara said the suicide was found by his wife hanging, with a rope around his neck. The nylon rope was tied to the house’s trusses.
Police said a group then cut off the rope, tried to revive Palarca, and rushed him to the JR Borja Memorial General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Ponce Cabonce.
Palarca’s widow told investigators that her husband was not in a good mood and unusually silent before the suicide.
“Murag naa siyay problema pero wala lang niya gisulti sa amo. Gahiluma lang siya. Wala mi kahibalo unsa gyud iyang problema,” she said.
