EVEN before Rep. Leni Robredo was invited to run for vice president under the LP banner I was already a huge fan of her outcome-driven programs. More than her rising popularity recently she is by far the most scientific in conducting the affairs of governance than any other lawmakers in the country, Senate included. I even wrote an article about her management approach early last year.

You see, before she makes a decision, she always starts with a baseline data. Dili lang mag pa feeding program o mag medical mission  unya mang hatag dayun ug relief goods dayun mag pa picture. She always starts with knowing what the real problem is first. Klaruhon sa daan pila ba gyud ka tao ang walay trabaho, asa na sila dapit gapuyo ug unsay pwede ma hatag sa ila nga livelihood nga pwede nila pagkakakitaan.

Baseline data give the leader a point to start and strategize programs, projects and activities. It also gives him or her a benchmark to know whether his/her efforts have successfully addressed the issues. Kai bisan pila pa na ka kilometro nga dalan ug eskwelahan imong nahimo, kung pag human sa imong termino gutom gihapon ang mga tao, you still are a big failure. Baseline data are essential information for sound decisions. A lot of poor judgments from politicians are sometimes because of absence of baseline data. Without it, resources gets wasted and no significant results are achieved–mao kana ang tatak Robredo.

It goes without saying that Robredo is my vice president. But Mar Roxas does not deserve her. Roxas is too desperate to win the presidency that he made Robredo (the most qualified candidate for vice presidency) as just the second choice. If you remember, he went to invite Grace Poe first because Poe has a very high approval rating.

Such move speaks a lot about the kind of leader that Mar is–willing to do anything to secure a victory while the interest of the country is just secondary, and in this case second choice. Even in our local politics, Mar could not make up his mind and wants to get everything for himself raising the hands of Candy Darimbang and Klarex Uy (both fighting for a congressional seat in the first district) while at the same time meeting with Rufus and Oca (rival mayoral candidates). Unsa man gyud Mar? Bahala ug kinsa sa ila basta makatabang pa daug nimo? Kaluoy sad nila upat. And to think you are the flag bearer of one political party. That approach is everything but a straight path.

Duterte’s political will and Robredo’s scientific approach in governance would be a perfect tandem for managing and developing a country. Gobyernong may puso just doesn’t cut it anymore, what we need is gobyernong matapang at may prinsipyo na tutuwid sa daan.
