MAYOR Vicente Emano has lashed out at President Aquino and accused the Chief Executive of politicizing and muddling efforts to provide houses in relocation sites for victims of the 2011 storm Sendong.

Emano said this as he reacted to Aquino’s pronouncements when the President faced a crowd at the Xavier Ecoville relocation project in Lumbia.

Aquino told people there: “Bigyan n’yo ako ng kakampi. Hindi ko na papangalanan pa, kilala na ninyo sila. Huwag ninyo akong bigyan ng pasaway.”

Apparently feeling alluded to, Emano told local radio that city hall has not been remiss in its duty to help the Sendong survivors. He claimed city hall was responsible in providing homes to some 13,586 families.

Emano accused the Aquino administration, including his mayoral rival Gov. Oscar Moreno of MIsamis Oriental, of deceit. “Dili lang unta nila ilaron ang katawhan. Alang-alang lugar og si Oscar Moreno ang nagtukod sa mga panimalay. We even named one of the relocation sites after President Aquino kay naka-tabang man pud siya.”

The beneficiaries, according to city hall, were provided homes in 38 relocation sites under the Emano administration’s “piso-piso” program. City hall said the relocation sites can be found in Canitoan, Consolacion, Iponan, Carmen, Mambuaya, Indahag;

Puntod, Consolacion, FS Catanico, Kauswagan, Camaman-an, Cugman, Carmen, Bugo, Buena Oro, Macasandig; Balulang, Lapasan, Camaman-an, Macabalan, Lapasan and Bonbon.

Emano however acknowledged the help of the Aquino administration and many sectors in the development of the relocation sites.

Incidentally, city hall received last week a P140-million fund from the Aquino administration, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), for the Cagayan de Oro Resettlement and Socialized Housing Program to be implemented at a 16-hectare relocation site in Barangay Pagatpat.
