National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in northern Mindanao spearheaded a “media forum” Tuesday to announce to the public through media the economic performance of the region during the second quarter of 2017.

The forum was held at the Regional Development Council X main conference  room in Cagayan de Oro City.

The Media forum aims to review and discuss how the different sectors have managed during the quarter and to assess whether the region has achieved its targets.

NEDA-10 chief economic development specialist Engr. Cecilio Clarete discussed the highlights of the regional situationer for 2nd quarter of 2017.

He said the forum is one way of looking into how the achievements in these sectors managed in the implementation of the regional economic situationer and whether these contributed to inclusive growth in the region.

The economic situationer included agriculture, fishery production, forest production, investments, exports, labor and employment, inflation, tax and customs collections, and peace and order in the region.

NEDA 10 also invited speaker from Manila represented by DTI senior trade and industry development specialist Herminio Viterbo Jr. who discussed the cities and municipalities competiveness index results.

During the open forum, representatives coming from various national government agencies and media practitioners in the region reviewed and validated key indicators.

They also discussed infrastructureelated indicators such as on shipping, air and land transportation, status of electricification, energy sales, and irrigation development, among others.

“The results of the validation and assessment are consolidated by NEDA-10 and announced to the public through a media forum.”  said Clarete.
