DOCTORS at the JR Borja Memorial General Hospital here declared a barangay tanod dead on arrival after he was shot by a militiaman in Barangay Cauyonan in Opol town, Misamis Oriental.
Chief Insp. Dennis Flores, commander of Opol town police, identified the fatality as Fausto Castillon, 56, a barangay tanod of Cauyonan.
He identified the suspect as as nilitiaman Felomino Jabien a.k.a. Toto, a resident of Barangay Tumpagon, this city.
Flores said they arrested Jabien at a Cafgu militia outpost in Barangay Tumpagon yesterday morning.
He said the suspect surrendered an M16 rifle.
Flores said Jabien has had a drink too many when he shot Castillon.
Jabien has been detained and charges were being prepared against him. (nitz arancon)
