Senior Supt. Rolando Destura identified the killed suspect as Baldomiro Pajo, 36 and a resident of Barangay Natubo, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body.

The civilian killed during the shootout was identified as Darwin Camahalan, 16, and Grade 9 student of Balingasag National High School. He sustained a lone gunshot wounds on the chest and was rushed to Balingasag Provincial Hospital.

Investigation revealed that Provincial Intelligence Branch led by Police Chief Insp. Esperidion Biado III together with the elements from Misamis Oriental Mobile Force Company and Balingasag Municipal Police Station conducted an operation against Pajo.

However, when the police tried to serve the warrant of arrest against Pajo, the latter tried to escape from the police custody and started shooting the law enforcement personnel.

Destura said the suspect refused to submit himself to the authority that caused an exchange of fire between the suspect and the police which resulted to the death of the said suspect and the teenager.
