Almer Masillones, a leader of the Council’s inspection  team, said the prices of basic commodities in the city’s busiest public areas and establishments near it remained the same.

The commodities inspected included sardines, noodles, coffee, milk, sugar, rice, and soap, among other prime commodities.

But Masillones said the price monitoring would continue to ensure compliance to the government’s price-freeze order.

The inspectors included representatives of city hall and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Their aim was to check if commercial establishments have followed the price freeze ordered by President Duterte based on RA 7581.

The freeze was ordered when Duterte placed Mindanao under martial law in May 23 during to the crisis in strife-torn Marawi City.

Masillones warned that anyone caught violating Section 6 of RA 7581 would be slapped with fines.
