Moreno said the administration PDP-Laban candidates would be presented to the media after a closed door meeting today.

Moreno said he is running for his third and final office term with Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy as his running mate.

The PDP-Laban would also field Rep. Rolando Uy as its top bet for the 1st District’s congressional seat. Like Moreno, Rep. Uy is currently serving his second office term.

Moreno said Councilor Yan Lam Lim would be the PDP-Laban’s bet for the congressional seat in the city’s 2nd District.

The candidates of the PDP-Laban is a mixture of old and relatively new faces in local politics.

But most of them are seeking reelection, according to city hall spokesperson Maricel Rivera.

One surprise candidate is Ms. Balaba, a former ABS-CBN personality based in Davao City who is a former girlfriend of popular TV broadcaster Aljo Bendijo, erstwhile host of the station’s popular Hoy Gising program who briefly co-achored ABS-CBN’s flagship newscast TV Patrol several years ago.

Talk long going the rounds has it that Balaba became close to the then mayor Duterte when she worked in Davao.

Balaba is a native of Cagayan de Oro and her family resides on Tomas Saco Street in Barangay Nazareth, this city.

“Girlie is very much interested to do public service. I have known her family for a long time,” Moreno said.
