The National Police Commission – 10 here is now awaiting the formal complaint to be filed by the two army personnel who were reportedly mauled by police officers assigned at Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

Lawyer Robert Lou Elango, chairman of the Police Regional Appellate Board of Napolcom-northern Mindanao said they are awaiting the formal filing of complaint by the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) personnel.

This develop as, 4ID spokesman Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez asked the leadership of the Police Regional Office – 10 to conduct an independent investigation on the alleged mauling incident posted on social media.

He said the 4ID headquarters is alarmed over the incident after their attention was called up by the national headquarter of the Philippine Army at Camp Aguinaldo on the whereabouts of PFC Brian Anco and PFC Armand Gentiles.

Both victims were arrested by PO2 Mar Torregosa and PO1 Laurence Macalos, both regular members of the Manolo Fortich Police Station.

Martinez said they are withdrawing the affidavit of desistance signed by both army personnel and are set to file formal complaint against the suspected police officers who arrested them.

Elango said they are also closely monitoring the investigation conducted by PNP Internal Affairs Service – 10 regarding the mauling incident.

PO3 Rodel Licera, Manolo Fortich police investigator dismissed the allegation made by the army personnel but they are now charging a civilian who punched Gentiles inside a public bus.

Licera said they are set to file a formal complaint against the civilian after they gathered information and the suspect through a witness’ accounts. The suspected civilian may be charge with inflicting less serious physical injuries to the soldier.

“Initially, he was identified as habal-habal driver. We will only divulge the name of the suspect after he will be arrested,” he said.

He said they are tracking the address and whereabouts of other civilians who threw punches at the soldiers outside the bus.
