A CRIMINOLOGY student went hysterical as narcotics agents cuffed him in Malanang, Opol in Misamis Oriental late last week.

Jehar Sangcopan, a 3rd year criminology student in Cagayan de Oro, was arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents from Caraga and Region 10 after they allegedly found some P60 thousand worth of suspected shabu in his house.

Sangcopan denied he had shabu in the house, and alleged that the law enforcers planted the evidence.

“Dili na tinuod, nakiusap ko sa ila nga ayaw lang mi planteri,” Sangcopan said.

But the PDEA agents searched the suspect’s house based on a warrant issued by a court.

PDEA said Sangcopan has been in the watchlist on suspicion that he replaced his father Jabbar who was killed in a PDEA raid in Barangay Kauswagan, this city, just this May.

Authorities said the younger Sangcopan continued what his father allegedly did.

PDEA said he was once arrested in Butuan City for alleged possession of shabu but he bailed out.

“Nagtago-tago lang ni siya dinhi kay subject na pud siya sa mga law enforcers didto sa Caraga,” said one agent who asked not to be identified so as not to jeopardize future PDEA operations.

Meanwhile, another suspected drug dealer was also arrested by the police  during a buy-and-bust operation in the area.

Jalal Acmad, 32, of Sabala Manao, Marawi City was arrested after he allegedly sold suspected shabu to a police decoy.

Chief Insp. Gilbert Rollen, chief of the city police’s Drug Enforcement Unit, said Acmad yielded three packs of shabu with an estimated street value of P361,800.

Authorities did not discount the possibility that Acmad’s source of illegal drugs was Sangcopan.

“Taud-taud na gyud namo gi-monitor si Acmad kay dinhi man siya sa city ga-operate,” Rollen said. (a.l. ricalde)
